Riskscape was founded in 2012 in South Africa as a specialist in spatial actuarial technologies. Early engagements included core work centered on economic capital modeling, risk attribute validations, and actuarial solutions. In 2015, the company underwent a strategic gear shift, focusing on a visionary approach to differentiate through intelligent integration of spatial data, laying the groundwork for location-based risk insights that set us apart in the market.
2016 - 2019
Scaling, Partnerships & Market Impact
From 2016 onward, Riskscape achieved rapid scale, securing its first international client and conducting a large Southern Africa study on tuberculosis using spatial analytics. Key milestones included a landmark 2017 Competition Commission Health Market Inquiry study and a strategic partnership with one of the region's largest credit bureaus. By 2018, the company delivered its first API integration. These years established us as a trusted partner in both the global and local market.
2020 - 2023
Strategic Elevation & Climate Focus
In 2020, Riskscape contributed to work with the Presidency, highlighting its national strategic relevance. The 2022 period marked a major advancement with the first large-scale bank climate change study in South Africa, alongside becoming a founder and shareholder in the country's largest residential property market collaboration. By 2023, international expansion accelerated through the delivery of a climate change study for an overseas major bank and integration of remote solar technology with a leading banking client, solidifying expertise in climate resilience, geospatial modeling, and forward-looking risk solutions.
2024 - 2025+
Global Reach & Future-Ready Solutions
In 2024, Riskscape completed numerous integrations with prominent insurance groups and forged partnerships with several of the world's largest banking institutions. Looking to 2025 and beyond, the company has developed advanced climate risk scenarios for one of the largest global banking groups, continuing to pioneer high-resolution climate modeling (e.g. flood, wildfire, extreme rainfall), and customizable future scenario climate projections. We will continue to empower banks, insurers, and planners to navigate an increasingly complex risk landscape with precision and foresight.
